We have lots of grasshoppers around the property. The good news is that the chickens love them. The bad news is that they love anything green, including the vegetables.
I remember a couple of years when we had nearly a plague of crickets in Dallas after seasons of particular weather. But, after watching that documentary on the Dust Bowl, our cricket plague was nothing to their grasshoppers. I bet their surviving chickens were fat and happy.
