Roadside Pony

A few years ago seeing a random animal on the side of the road would have seemed strange. Might have stopped and taken photos. Might have even been interesting enough to blog about. But now it seems perfectly normal. You just slow down, go around it, make sure you don't hit it.

This little pony is frequently out grazing on the side of the Farm Road. I think it's a Shetland pony, or maybe a mini donkey. He must think the grass is greener on the side of the road.

  1. On first glance, I thought it was a mini donkey, but donkeys don't have full tails like that. Shetland ponies do not have manes like that and would have a fuller tail. I'm pretty sure it's a mini mule.

  2. Also, it has the cross on it's shoulders, which ponies don't have, but it has a white foot, which donkeys of that coloring usually don't have.

    1. Thanks. This makes sense. We used to have Shetlands, so I could tell it wasn't really that. But wasn't sure what it was. So would it make this a cross between a Shetland and mini-donkey? Very unusual. I need to stop next time I see it and ask someone what it is.
