Blood Moon

Guv'nor has a big telescope and he set up it the other evening so we could view the lunar eclipse. We even got up at 3 am to see it. It was pretty cold that morning, but with perfect conditions for seeing the stars and planets.

Guv'nor was putting on a new eyepiece. We also have a new stand with rollers and stabilizers.

The telescope is an Orion SkyQuest XT10 Classic Dobsonian - for those interested.

A Dobsonian is a large-aperature Newtonian reflector.

Taken with my iPhone camera - 3:01 am CST

Taken with my iPhone through the telescope eyepiece - 3:12 am. The image is reversed.

Another photo taken through the eyepiece a few minutes later - 3:39 am.

Taken the following morning at 6:45 am.

    1. Thanks. The photos were a test of patience trying to get the angle just right, being half asleep and freezing cold.
